Band of Brothers Brewing Co., a local brewing company in Tuscaloosa, will host their first ever Winter Musical Festival this Saturday, Feb. 24.
The brewing company is the third craft brewery in the Tuscaloosa area and has the largest taproom in Tuscaloosa.
Lawrence Edwards, the marketing representative for Band of Brothers, came up with the idea for the company to host the music festival.
“A lot of times I love to get feedback from our customers and one of them said that they were going out of town for a musical festival and I thought I’d love to start one myself,” Edwards said.
The purpose of the Winter Music Festival is to give back to the community and to also give Tuscaloosa residents another activity for a football-less Saturday in February.
“I’m big about giving back to the community because Tuscaloosa is such a great place,” Edwards said. “When people mention Tuscaloosa we want them to mention Band of Brothers.”
At the music festival, there will be various genres of music including country, classic rock, blues and soul music. There will be six performances from 4g, Afro Unicorn, Dobbie Doghouse Wilson, Tarred and Feathered, Debbie Bond and B2B.
“My husband and I are big fans of Band of Brothers and we’re honored to be included in the stellar line up,” said Bond, a blues singer. “There is a great cross section of music and regional talent and I can’t think of a better place to come together to say goodbye to winter and have a community gathering.”
Bond, who was born in California but raised in England, has been a loyal customer of Band of Brothers since the brewing company’s opening.
“My husband and I have loved band of brothers from the first day they opened up,” Bond said. “From day one, they have offered great world class craft beer and a world class music venue. It is really our musical home.”
Stephen Tyler, a graphic designer for Band of Brothers, has also been a loyal fan of the brewery since its beginnings.
“I’ve worked with the guys at Band of Brothers since the inception of the first food truck rally in Tuscaloosa back in April of 2016, so any chance I get to work with these great guys on a project is always a blast” said Tyler, a University of Alabama alumnus that graduated with a degree in communication studies and film. “These types of events that bring the community and local businesses together gives me a sense of pride that Tuscaloosa is evolving culturally like other cities across the nation.”
Not only will there be live music at the Winter Music Festival, there will also be a wide range of refreshments. The Band of Brothers Brewing Company will host three food trucks at the festival for attendees.
The first food truck, Be Gone, specializes in comfort food. Local roots, the second food truck, specializes in foods made from local ingredients. Lastly, Lolly’s Sugar Shack serves dessert foods.
Band of Brothers Brewing Company’s Winter Music Festival begins at 2 p.m. and lasts until 11 p.m. Saturday. The event is welcome to people of all ages with a $5 entry fee for everyone over the age of 10.
