It’s a little-known fact that chili is prepared in more than one variety. This weekend, The 12th Annual Great Tuscaloosa Chili Cookoff returns with a range of chilies for the tasting.
The Chili Cookoff is set to take place this Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Bryant Conference Center. From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., guests can see, taste and smell all that chili has to offer.
There will be over 30 different kinds of chili recipes for guests to sample. Guests are also able to vote for their favorite chili dish. The People’s Choice Chili award will go to the chili chef that wins over the stomachs of the crowd. Additional awards for the chili contestants include Best Judged Chili, Best Booth, Best Costumes and Best Showmanship.
While chili is the main dish, there will be free ice cream, free cheese biscuits, free chili dogs, soda, and beer for guests who need a break from all the chili. Live entertainment and children’s activities will also be at the Chili Cookoff.
Tickets for adults will require a donation on site and children six and under can get in for free. All guests will have the chance to win prizes during the event.
The Great Tuscaloosa Chili Cookoff is sponsored by the Exchange Club of Tuscaloosa. It is a service organization focusing on community support, youth development, honoring America, and child abuse prevention. The funds raised by the Chili Cookoff will be used for the Exchange Club’s work in these areas.
