Ignite UA is a program through First Year Experience and Retention Initiatives that allows first-year students to connect and relate with peers, learn more about UA and its resources, and build a network with faculty and staff.
The 2018 Ignite UA program application is due Dec. 8.
“Ignite UA aims to help first-year students, freshmen and transfer students, to find their place on campus,” said Chelsea Ratcliff, coordinator of first year experience and retention initiatives. “We call it ‘Discover your spark,’ to find either a campus resource or a campus opportunity that gives you a chance to become invested in the University.”
What: The Ignite UA application is closing.
Who: First-year students can apply.
When: Dec. 8.
Where: The application can be found at https://universityofalabama.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ezY7lrdZIVpYelT
Why: “It’s important for people to sign up for Ignite [UA] mainly to – I’ll give it as two parts – so, one side of it is to build a community and get to know anywhere from 10 to 100 other first-year students and develop a community with them, as well as upperclassmen leaders,” Ratcliff said. “And then the second side of it is to develop skills that are essential to be successful as a new student.”
