Poetry, short stories and nonfiction stories will be told with a bit of passion, a sprinkle of creativity, and a dash of coffee at the Pure Products Open Mic event tonight.
Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. any UA students, faculty or staff are welcome to come and share or listen to poetry at the Monarch Espresso Bar. The event is also open to any Tuscaloosa community members with a soft spot for poetry and other writings. The Pure Products Open Mic is free to anyone who would like to attend.
While all are invited to listen and enjoy coffee or cocktails, only the first 10 people to sign up will get the opportunity to stand up and share their poetry with the audience. Each of these readings have a limit of five to seven minutes so that everyone who signs up gets a chance to read. There is no restriction to the genre these poets can write about.
The Pure Products Open Mic events are a part of the Reading Series sponsored by the English Department. Following this event, there will be one more Open Mic on Nov. 30 at the Monarch Espresso Bar for any poetry lovers and writers in the Tuscaloosa area.
