What: The Barre Code’s donation-based community class.
The Barre Code will host a class on the first Sunday of every month, each benefitting a different charity. This Sunday, the donations received will benefit Schoolyard Roots, a school garden initiative in Alabama.
Who: The class is open to the public.
When: Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
Where: The Barre Code studio in Downtown Tuscaloosa.
Why: Catherine Noble, owner of the studio, discussed the class’s dual purpose of providing accessible fitness and giving back to the Tuscaloosa community.
“We’ve done a lot of pop-ups in the community and the feedback we get is people saying they love our format and they love doing Barre with us, but they can’t afford a membership,” Noble said. “So I wanted to find a way to get those people who can’t afford it in the studio, while also giving back to the community in some way.”
Noble emphasized the studio’s warm and welcoming atmosphere and her hope to extend that to the community.
“We have a really welcoming culture in our studio and we really want it to have a solid community feel, and part of that is giving back to those around us,” Noble said. “We love the Tuscaloosa community and being here and we wanted to find a way to connect even deeper than just being present.”
