What: Being a Minority Student at a Predominantly White Institution Panel.
“[The panel is] our way to showcase different organizations dedicated to furthering diversity on campus and to show minority students different ways to get involved,” said Keelin Gallagher, a staff member at the Intercultural Diversity Center.
Who: The panel will be hosted by the Intercultural Diversity Center. All students are welcome to attend.
When: Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
Where: The panel will be held at the Intercultural Diversity Center, located on the first floor of the Riverside Annex, which is in the middle of the Riverside Community.
Why: “Definitely in a time like this, discussion is vital to understanding issues,” Gallagher said. “The more information that is put out there, the more knowledgeable people become. Educating people on the issues others face helps to foster a community.”
Gallagher stressed the importance of acknowledging these issues rather than ignoring them.
“It’s something that needs to be talked about; it can’t just be swept under the rug,” Gallagher said.
