The entertainment district has extended its open container laws to the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk on gamedays. It has been extended from the downtown area to the Riverwalk on the Black Warrior River. 

The new law started during the Colorado State game and extends through Jan. 27, 2018.  

Generally the downtown area encompasses 28th Avenue to the west and now the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk on Jack Warner Parkway.

The southern border stretches across from Eighth Street to Greensboro Avenue, and then up to Seventh Street and across Lurleen Wallace Blvd North to Stillman Blvd. 

The new law is established on a temporary basis, as the Tuscaloosa Police Department is determining whether the new law would be received well within the community as well as monitoring the alcohol use.  

This is expected to bring more people to the downtown area and bring more businesses to the retail district on gameday.  Generally alcohol is permitted from 9 a.m. to 10p.m. on gamedays within the respected borders. 

The mind behind it all, Dan Robinson, owns Cravings specialty food store on University Blvd. With the idea that the new district will bring more visitors and fans on gameday and allow the retailers, restaurants and bars to cater to the football fans.
