Continuing in the celebration of Hispanic/Latinx awareness month, Alabama Students Without Borders, in partnership with the Hispanic-Latino Association and the School of Social Work, have teamed up to host Latinx Activism 101. This event will feature guest speaker Benjamin Itehua from Adelante Alabama, as well as a panel of student activists who will inform attendees about Lantinx activism on campus and in the Alabama community.

This event is open to the University community.
When: Monday Oct. 2. 7-8:30 p.m.
Where: Gorgas Library Room 205
Why: To inform UA students about Latinx activism efforts on campus and in Alabama communities.
“The purpose of the Latinx Activism 101 event is to bring students together to learn how they can be activists and allies for the Latinx community,” said Reesha Swanson, junior social work major and director of engagement for Alabama Students Without Borders. “We’re going to have Benjamin Itehua, a representative from Adelante Alabama (a Latino advocacy organization), come speak about his job and his work as an advocate in the Latinx community.”
