A year ago, the words “Arcade Fire” held a universal meaning among musicophiles: the phrase indie rock heavy-hitters, most likely. While the debate continues to run rampant regarding the ranking of previous Arcade Fire albums (I think “Funeral” is better than “The Suburbs”), it is clear that “Everything Now” will never be considered a contender in the eyes of many. The album is largely divisive with varying supporters and contesters spouting a myriad of reasoning for their competing opinions. To engage in some gentle banter regarding the album, I recruited Matt Speakman, The Crimson White’s Sports Editor, for his musical knowledge and well-supported view on Arcade Fire’s newest album. Here is some gentle email discourse on the matter.
