Two Alabama players took home weekly awards from the SEC. Running back Damien Harris earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Ross Pierschbacher was recognized as the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Harris and Pierschbacher were both crucial in Alabama’s historic performance on the ground on Saturday. In a 59-0 win over Vanderbilt, the Crimson Tide rushed for 496 yards against one of the country’s top statistical defenses. Harris was especially productive, running for a career-high 151 yards and three touchdowns. Harris’ three scores passed his touchdown total for the entire 2016 season.
Alabama’s 496 yards was the highest rushing total Alabama has had under Nick Saban. The Crimson Tide outgained the Commodores 677-78 and had 38 first downs. It was Alabama’s second-highest offensive total in school history.
Alabama will face Ole Miss at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN on Saturday.
