The Women and Gender Resource Center is promoting knowledge on women’s health today with a sweet array of chocolate treats.
The 7th Annual Chocolate Festival will take place today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Shelby Hall Rotunda as the annual fall fundraiser for the Women and Gender Resource Center. Attendees can purchase tickets for $8 at the Women and Gender Resource Center, or at the door of the event. Students were also able to purchase tickets through Parent and Family Programs as part of the Family Weekend package.
Special chocolates have been donated by local chocolatiers and bakers for participants to sample. The event also features a silent auction and family-friendly activities.
The main focus of the Chocolate Festival, however, is the promotion of meaningful information critical to women’s health knowledge. Participants have the opportunity to learn about heart disease, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and other women’s health issues, all while satisfying their sweet tooth.
The Women and Gender Resource Center addresses gender inequity on campus, in the government, and the workforce while fostering a community of multiculturalism, social justice, safety and leadership. They also provide free counseling and advocacy services to members of the UA community who are victims and survivors of interpersonal violence.
