Polls will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday as Northport holds a runoff mayoral election.
Incumbent Mayor Bobby Herndon, who has served for two terms, will run against Donna Aaron, Northport’s former city council president.
In the August mayoral election, Herndon received the most votes, but a runoff is being held since he failed to earn a clear majority. Of the 3,424 votes cast, Herndon and Aaron received 45 percent and 28 percent respectively.
This is not Herndon’s first runoff election, as he won the 2008 runoff against then incumbent Mayor Harvey Fretwell.
Additionally, Northport City Council runoff elections will also be held on Tuesday.
Incumbent Councilwoman Judy Hayes is running against Dennis Hambright, BFGoodrich retiree and former union secretary, in District 1. In District 5, Jeff Hoggs, an insurance agent, is running against Dale Phillips, former commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit.
