Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley took a break from working with other governors to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act in order to receive healthcare himself. Communications Director Yasamie August said Bentley underwent a routine procedure to correct atrial fibrillation, an issue that causes irregular heartbeat in the upper heart chambers. 

While the American Heart Association lists that atrial fibrillation can lead to the risk of stroke, heart failure and chronic fatigue, August said in a press release that Bentley is “feeling well and there are no serious medical concerns.”

AL.com reports that Bentley was admitted to Baptist Medical Center South on Wednesday of this week, where he underwent a trans-esophageal echocardiogram and cardioversion procedure.

The hospital announced that it was their pleasure to provide the medical care the governor needed. Bentley tweeted his thanks to everyone that wished him well and stated that he is immediately going to get back to work for the people of Alabama.
