Student Government Association President Lillian Roth announced Tuesday that she had called a special session of the Senate for Wednesday evening in order to hear a legislative version of the executive order she passed. The executive order changed Bill 16, a bill which would have codified Student Organizational Seating and one that Roth vetoed.
Wednesday’s special session did not have enough senators present in order for the changes to be discussed and was adjourned shortly after roll call.
After the meeting, Roth expressed disappointment toward senators who did not attend the session.
“We were unable to reach quorum and therefore unable to work to creating a more fair and transparent Student Organization Seating process to represent every student on campus,” she said. “Clearly specific interest groups were too chicken to show up and actually try and defend their unethical behavior.”
In order for the changes to be considered, a senator will have to motion for the bill to be added to the docket during Thursday’s meeting.
