A favorite pair of shoes is captured in a photo on Instagram with the Denny Chimes tower featured in the background. Each viewer looks and sees the hashtags #bangsblitz and #bangsshoes underneath the photo. As people scroll farther down the explore page, they see a second photo with another pair of shoes, then a third and a fourth. This event can only be known as the BANGS blitz.
The BANGS blitz occurs once a month on Instagram. Ambassadors of the BANGS Shoes company post a photo with a pair of BANGS shoes on their college campuses.
“I think it’s a good way to get it trending on one day and get a lot of attention unlike companies who post over time,” said Ellis Bouldin, an Alabama ambassador and a sophomore majoring in accounting and finance. “There’s more attention on the explore page for the company, which is a better strategy.”
Anyone 16 years or older can apply to be an ambassador and have the opportunity to move up in the company.
Mari Meier, a BANGS Shoes mentor and a sophomore majoring in advertising at a university in Texas, was promoted to a mentor position after starting as a fall ambassador.
“As a mentor, I have a squad of my own ambassadors,” Meier said.
Meier was recently promoted to a paid position doing public relations outreach for BANGS Shoes. This goes to show how a love for adventure and involvement in the company can open new doors for ambassadors.
The company behind the BANGS blitz is BANGS Shoes. The founder and CEO, Hannah Davis, got the idea for the company while teaching English in China for a year. The style of the shoes was inspired by the farmer and worker boots of the different people she saw.
Davis also minored in Mandarin, which introduced her to this new culture that was so different, she became obsessed with it. The name even has a Mandarin influence as it is the Mandarin character for “help.”
The BANGS Shoes company’s mission is to invest in entrepreneurs around the world and inspire adventure.
“It comes to life in many ways; we are targeting this really adventurous and passionate group of humans that like to engage in everything the world has to offer,” Davis said. “Whether it’s outside, or with music, or volunteering, whatever adventure you have found and are pursuing, will inspire others.”
By wearing these shoes, you’re investing in a company that donates 20 percent of its proceeds to entrepreneurs. Each month, BANGS Shoes features hand-selected entrepreneurs that receive a loan to help start their businesses.
One major upcoming event hosted by BANGS Shoes is the No Spend Venture video contest. It is based on the idea that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have an adventure. To compete, you cannot spend any money and must submit a video by Monday, April 10th. Winners will receive multiple BANGS Shoes and ENO products.
Shoes and adventure may not usually go hand in hand, but with the BANGS Shoes company, they always do.
