A man sustained severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle on University Boulevard near Hackberry Lane Saturday around 2:30 a.m., said Chris Bryant, a spokesman for the University.
“The vehicle left the scene, and the man, who has no known affiliation with the University, was transported to [Druid City Hospital] by ambulance,” Bryant said.
The University of Alabama Police Department, the Tuscaloosa Police Department of Accident Reconstruction and the Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide Unit responded to the scene.
Brad Fisher, a DCH spokesman, declined comment due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations. A spokesperson from the Tuscaloosa Police Department could not be reached by deadline.
The investigation is ongoing.
