In the early hours of the morning on Feb. 27, a fire caused massive damage on 13th Street in Tuscaloosa.
Katherine Battle, a senior majoring in psychology, said she lives near where the fire occurred, and it caused damage to her house as well.
“It was really scary because we were all asleep and abruptly woken up and we looked out of our bedroom doors, and it was really bright in our house,” Battle said. “Our roommate said there was a fire. We didn’t understand what that meant until we looked out of our windows. Not know what was going on but knowing how quickly we had to get out of the house was terrifying. It’s scary having it on side where my room is. I’m just glad we woke up.”
