“Alabama’s great for someone like me, who likes everything. I have so many dreams, it’s insane. I can’t keep up! I just wanna try this and this and this. I mean, I could like building chairs! I don’t know; I haven’t tried it yet.
I don’t think I need to know. I told my dad [when I was considering swapping majors], and he said when I was ready, I would know. I’d stop in the middle of the Quad and just know what I wanted to do with myself. People think you need to rush, but it’s okay if you have detours along the way. If it takes me longer, whatever. It’s important to keep an open mind, through everything. When you have open eyes, you meet people you would never be friends with. I knew what I wanted to do coming into college, but once I got here I had a crisis. And you just want to freak out, but you can’t. You just need to let things happen.
Like, I’m going to New Orleans next week. I’ve never run a half marathon before— it’s my birthday weekend, and my friend is from there so I’m just tagging along with her and running a half marathon with her. I like to go on trips. I don’t have a car, and back home I traveled a lot. I miss that, so I tag along with people a lot when they go places. I think everyone should do it. Even if you don’t travel, travel anyways.”
