Former Alabama and Oakland Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame by the Hall’s senior committee after being passed over on the regular ballot three times.
Stabler passed away last July at the age of 69. He died due to complications associated with colon cancer, and the New York Times recently revealed that Stabler also suffered with chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
Stabler led the Raiders to a win over Minnesota in Super Bowl XI, and was named the AFC Player of the year in both 1974 and 1976.
Stabler is joined in this year’s class by Dick Stanfel, Tony Dungee, Brett Favre, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison Orlando Pace and Eddie DeBartolo.
