“I think friendships are as genuine as you make them. If you put in the effort to make a genuine connection, you will find the girls who truly are your sisters. My friends have seen me doing my absolute best and they’ve been there for me at my absolute worst- not because we pay to be in a house together but because they care about my happiness and want to see me succeed. We rely on each other so much, and that bond comes from love, not money or parties. Anyone who knows me would tell you I’m not your typical “sorority girl” People who assume everyone in greek life is the same are missing out on the opportunity to know an amazing, diverse group of women. Through greek life, I’ve met women from all over the country and from walks of life who are doing awesome things at this university. Just because we happen to enjoy a nice comfort colors frocket doesn’t mean we’re not smart or capable of thinking for ourselves. Greek life has had such a positive impact on my life, it’s completely changed how I see myself and what I believe I’m capable of doing. I can only hope that one day my kids can experience the same love and support that I’ve experienced in college.”
