Students all across University of Alabama’s campus are exploring all different kinds of music, from mainstream popular jams to under the radar tunes. Looking for something new to jam out to? Check out what these University students are listening to this week.
“How You Get the Girl” by Taylor Swift
“My favorite song right now is ‘How You Get the Girl’ by Taylor Swift!” said Emily Benes, a freshman majoring in Business Management. “I really like the way T-Swift’s clever lyrics capture the way girls think when it comes to guys!”
“Jordan Belfort” by Wes Walker
“It’s a fun song to listen to and it’s the move right now,” said Janie DiNatale, a sophomore majoring in Food and Nutrition.
“Beneath the Skin” album by Of Monsters and Men
“First off, they are my favorite band, and also their lyrics are pretty refreshing because they have a lot of deeper meaning than most pop songs today,” said Sam Pannell, a sophomore majoring in Political Science. “So I guess a combination of really cool sound and great lyrics.”
“Bennie and the Jets” by Elton John
“My favorite song right now is ‘Bennie and the Jets’ because I went on a road trip with my friend to New Orleans and she played it all the time,” said Kelsey Kauffman, a sophomore majoring in Accounting. “And I was like ‘Wow, this is a really good song,’ and I can’t get it out of my head because the trip was really fun and it reminds me of a good time.”
Tupper Ware Remix Party
“I’m kind of weird with my musical tastes so I’ve been listening to a Canadian indie group called Tupper Ware Remix Party,” said Billy Causey, a junior majoring in Telecommunications and Film. “They do like 80s synth-pop meets hard rock, and their whole thing is like parodying the glam and hair metal bands, but also throwing in some references and parodies of some more modern stuff too.”
