Coming to theaters late October, musician Ed Sheeran’s new concert film will take viewers behind the scenes of the singer/song writers concerts. If you have not had the chance to see Sheeran himself live in concert, then this movie is a must see event.
Unless you have been living completely under a rock or without wifi for the past couple of years, you know who Ed Sheeran is. Sheeran is internationally known for his sweet songs that could melt a frozen heart and his epic guitar playing. Sheeran is, without a doubt, one of the most successful single acts to ever top the charts.
Sheeran takes the stage in sold out venues all over the world completely by himself. There is no band backing him up. It is just Sheeran with his guitar and a looper. When you’re listening to the singer, you don’t think about how much work it is to play those tunes live on stage.
Sheeran is a brilliant songwriter.
He writes all of his own songs and songs for other artist as well. Sheeran actually has written multiple songs for One Direction. One of their most iconic songs, “Little Things,” was Sheeran’s work.
Sheeran has had two chart topping albums with multiple successful singles from each album. From his first album, “+,” the most popular tunes were “A Team,” “Give Me Love” and “Lego House.” All three of these songs were featured on various TV shows and movies. The second of Sheeran’s successful albums features one of his most popular songs, “Thinking Out Loud.”
When Sheeran was 13, he burned a CD of 14 of his original songs and titled it “Spinning Man” after a picture his father had. In his autobiography, “Ed Sheeran: A Visual Journey,” Sheeran writes, “There are only about twenty copies of Spinning Man in existence and I have nineteen of them. I don’t want anyone getting hold of a copy.”
That same year Sheeran recorded an official Extended Play called “The Orange Room” and paid 300 pounds ($465.92) to have a thousand produced. Sheeran writes in his book, “I only sold fifteen and was left with hundreds and hundreds boxes of unsold CDs in my room. It’s ironic that I could sell them on eBay now, in minutes.”
Sheeran’s mom still has them but he has banned her from ever selling them.
The movie will include the singer’s concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, backstage clips and interviews.
This past July, the internationally beloved ginger sold out the historic Wembley Stadium. It is rare for an artist to play stadiums these days, much less for a singer/songwriter like Sheeran.
Sheeran played three sold out shows at Wembley. The only other artist to do that last year was One Direction.
Sheeran’s concert film is titled “Jumpers for Goalpost” because he keeps moving. In the movie’s trailer, Sheeran calls his Wembley performance his “most important mile stone yet.” What artist doesn’t dream of playing a stadium like Wembley?
Sheeran has come a long way. The singer/songwriter went from playing dingy old pubs with little to no audience to selling out arenas and stadiums. If you have had the chance to see the one man band in concert, then you should definitely go see his concert film “Jumpers To Goalpost” the weekend of Oct. 23.
