Ivory Toldson, the deputy director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, will speak to faculty and students Wednesday as the keynote speaker for the sixth annual Discerning Voices Symposium. Toldson’s address is titled, “Debunking the Myths, Breaking the Barriers, and Building the School-to-College Pipeline for Black Males,” and will be given in Gorgas Library Room 205 at 3 p.m. Wednesday. He has been named by Diverse Magazine as a 2013 Emerging Scholar, one of “30 leaders in the fight for black men” by Newsweek Magazine, and is the author of “The Breaking Barriers Series.”
