Each year the department of journalism sponsor’s their annual J-Day event. The J-Day program highlights the career choices that are available to the young journalism industry. Guest speakers are brought in to talk about their work in the industry. This year the guest speaker list will be filled with journalists who have recently written popular books. Some headliners are Jim Peppler of the Southern Courier, whose photos tell the story of Alabama in the late ’60s, and Cason Award winner Warren St. John, author of “Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer.”
This year’s J-Day will be held on Thursday in Reese Phifer Hall. All sessions are free and open to the public. Events taking place during the day will be held in Room 338, and Warren St. John’s evening talk will be in Room 216. The first session starts at 9:30 a.m. and Warren St. John will begin at 6:30 p.m. to wrap up the night. There will also be lunch provided to everyone who attends at 12:30 p.m. To view the full schedule of J-Day, visit the JNews web page at jnews.ua.edu.
