“José’s exhibition portrays the presence of Latinos in daily life and brings awareness of their key role in the community,” said Karina Vazquez, a Spanish instructor at the University.
Vazquez said it is important to recognize Hispanic members in the community as they have played a key role in the economic wealth of American society, even though they are still seen as second class citizens in many cases.
“They have been essential in the building up of the country’s economy, industrial and rural progress, education and community development, as well as in the arts and social justice,” Vazquez said.
