“You bring the good, we’ll bring the love,” is the mantra of the local band Good Love. With influences including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Outkast and Jimi Hendrix, Good Love has plenty of good to give.
Good Love consists of guitarist Nick Williams, who has an arsenal of guitar shredding skills, “funktastic” bassist Mark Hermecz, lead vocalist Aaron Posey, whose bag of tricks ranges from the fast lyrical rapping of Andre 3000 to the smooth tones of Marvin Gaye, and new high-energy drummer Colin White. All of the skills they possess come together to create musical fusion that you just can’t ignore.
“We all have a passion for music. We try and let that passion flow out into the crowd, because when you’re passionate about what you’re doing, that just gives the fans a better experience,” Hermecz said. “Every show is meant to be better than the last. We feel as if we owe it to our fans who come out and see us every show to have something bigger and better lined up for them.”
As of now the band plays mostly covers, with a couple of original verses from Posey that are remixed into certain classics and some original songs here and there. The band hopes to have an EP out by the end of the summer of all original music, to make the transition from cover band.
“It’s a movement,” Posey said. “Music has always been that constant that has always been able to move people and enlighten. It brings people together, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Their set list list includes everything from Outkast and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Marvin Gaye and The Temptations. And if that’s not enough for you, the energy created on stage is like no other you’ll find around Tuscaloosa. They’re moving the whole time and letting the music take them over, much like their influences. While Williams is killing a solo behind his back, Hermecz is already up in the air slapping the strings. While Posey’s dancing in the background, White is banging on the drums. They’re a great live band.
The energy has the crowd on their feet at each show. With a different set list every night, there are always new songs to jam to. You’ll often see a dedicated fan base at the shows, but with every show, there’s always a new set of people that leave musically satisfied.
“Bring the love” and show your support by coming to the band’s next show, scheduled for Saturday, June 29, at the Crimson Tavern.
