Alabama star safety Bray Hubbard was named a second-team preseason All-American on Tuesday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Hubbard elected to return to Alabama for his senior season in January after earning first-team All-SEC and second-team All-America honors in 2025. He was the only Crimson Tide player named to the foundation’s preseason All-America teams this season.
The Mississippi native — who played quarterback at Ocean Springs High School — recorded 79 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, four interceptions, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles while leading Alabama to eight straight wins, an 11-4 record and a College Football Playoff Quarterfinal appearance in the Rose Bowl.
Hubbard made big plays in several games for the Crimson Tide last season, including in the team’s 27-20 win over Auburn on the Plains last November, which sealed the Crimson Tide’s first-place finish in the SEC regular season standings and a trip to the SEC championship game in Atlanta. He picked off Tigers quarterback Ashton Daniels and forced a game-saving fumble from current Texas wide receiver Cam Coleman with less than a minute to play.
His rise to stardom in Tuscaloosa began after fellow safety Keon Sabb suffered a broken foot in a debilitating 24-17 loss to Tennessee in Knoxville in 2024. He cemented his place in the starting lineup after Sabb went down with nine total tackles against the Volunteers.
Soon after, the former quarterback developed a knack for interceptions. He snatched picks in back-to-back wins and grabbed one more in a fifth-straight Iron Bowl victory for Alabama.
