Broncos ‘N Bullet Holes, a country-Southern rock band that formed while its members were attending the University, released its second EP “Back to the Basics” on Tuesday.
The group consists of Kabe Grammer, Wade Passler, Ian Barrier, Noland Miller and Adam Josephson. After uniting — and creating their name at the Taco Bell on the Strip in 2022 — they became more than a group of individual artists but a true family.
Grammer, Miller, Barrier and Josephson are all current students at UA, and all members live together in Tuscaloosa.
“We always want to do everything together,” Passler said. “There’s not a time where all of us aren’t together under one roof. And so the atmosphere is really close. It’s really a tight-knit group.”
Passler is the lead singer of the band and also plays guitar alongside Grammer and Miller, with Barrier on bass and Josephson on the drums.
“Back to the Basics” is composed of three original tracks and a cover of Patty Loveless’ “You Don’t Even Know Who I Am.”
The first song, “Back to the Basics,” is about taking a romantic relationship back to simpler terms and reconnecting with the roots of the relationship.
“Short Fuse,” the second song, has a heavier rock note to it, and Passler said it was a chance for the band to experiment with different sounds.
The third song, “Crossin’ Dixie,” was written by Barrier’s dad.
“It’s about leaving Alabama and realizing that you want to go back, because Alabama is the best place on planet Earth, obviously,” Passler said.
Throughout its discography, the band has a sound that radiates its collaborative nature as a group. Each song works perfectly together to create an image of Southern charm and country values.
Broncos ‘N Bullet Holes started playing at local venues in Tuscaloosa but now travels to other SEC schools for performances, with its next show being in Oxford on March 26.
“The aspiration to stay in this band is because I love every single one of these guys, and we’re not only doing it individually because you play individual instruments, but you’re really working as a team,” Passler said. “I love how we’re just so close, and these are my brothers.”
