As a special guest for Evan Honer, Liam St. John will be performing at the ongoing Kaleidoscope concert series at Druid City Music Hall on Nov. 14.
St. John started writing music as a kid, drawing inspiration from artists like Ray Charles and Tracy Chapman.
“It’s rooted from the blues,” St. John said of his music style. “It’s just honest songwriting with honest vocal delivery.”
He started releasing music in 2020, one year after being on “The Voice,” with his most popular song being “Little White Lies – Stripped Back,” a song off of his 2023 album “All The Bad Things (Stripped Back).”
“Music is energy for me, and I feel the energy from the crowd as well,” St. John said. “I’ve always had a bit of nerves before a performance, but only because I just care about it so much.”
Every time St. John prepares to step out on stage, he knows how to bring care and passion to his crowds, making his shows full of energy.
“Performing is everything to me,” St. John said. “It’s what gives me the most life, and when I feel I’m my true self.”
“Stripped Back” reached No. 1 in Top Blues Albums globally on Apple Music, followed by a successful nationwide tour reaching over 60 cities. A year later, St. John released his sophomore album “All The Bad Things.”
St. John said that one of the ways he processes his emotions is through song, which is why he strives for honesty and authenticity in everything he writes.
One hope he outlined was showing others how he processes his own feelings through music and encouraging them to do the same.
“I think the only person that is going to change your life and change your career is yourself,” St. John said. “The sooner you let go of hoping somebody else will do it for you, the sooner you start getting the job done.”
