The UA Air Force ROTC is hosting its annual 5-kilometer run Friday to celebrate Veterans Day.
The event is scheduled to start at the Bureau of Mines at 5:45 a.m. and conclude around 7 a.m.
This year, organizers are introducing trophies for the fastest male and female runner. According to Lauren Coleman, the public affairs officer for AFROTC, the club wanted to add a competitive side to the run.
“It’s always a sight to behold as the community gathers in solidarity and good spirits,” Coleman said.
The run has seen around 200 participants in the past, Coleman said, and the numbers are expected to be similar this year.
“It’s really a great time where the cadets can get together,” Cadet Joe Potter, a junior aerospace engineering major, said.
Snacks will be provided after the race, and organizers will take a group photo to celebrate.
