Recording artist John Mayer has cancelled his April 26 concert at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, along with 17 other tour stops this spring.
The Grammy Award-winning singer is taking an indefinite break from live performances due to a throat condition, according to a Columbia Records press release.
“Nothing feels worse than having to break the stage down before the performance, and I mean nothin,” Mayer wrote on his Tumblr today. “I love this band you were going to hear, I love the guys and girls I work with, and the only thing that stops me from devolving into a puddle of tears is knowing that it’s a long life, and the greatest gift in the world is being able to create music no matter what the circumstances.”
Ticket holders will be refunded automatically, according to Tuscaloosa city spokeswoman Heather McCollum. She said ticket holders should contact Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 with questions.
