I’m writing regarding an article I read about the Zimride ridesharing service impasse, which I believe I have a solution to. I do not feel that a ridesharing service is worth those costs, especially when there are free, and in my opinion, better services out there.

One example would be this website called Yrides – www.yrides.com. After having used it while on vacation in California, I feel that it is easier and faster to use. It is a new website, and it does not have many users and lacks an organizational login function like Zimride offers; however, the website functions quite nicely. It is probably looking for organizational partners, and I have read on various blogs that it is planning on designing a component for organizations also to be offered for free.

I feel that the money spent on Zimride could be better spent giving deserving students scholarships. Yrides offers us the same product for no cost, which is an important factor, considering it might prove to not be very effective. I think this is an easy call.
