Tornado kills three in Cedar Crest home

Three people were killed when Wednesday afternoon’s tornado destroyed a home in the Cedar Crest neighborhood off 15th Street.

Morgan Sigler and Scott Atterton, both UA students from Bryant, Ala., and Sigler’s boyfriend Blake Peek, of Pisgah, Ala., have been confirmed dead, said Cody Kirk, a childhood friend and fellow UA student.

Atterton’s death has been reported by Atlanta television station 11Alive.

“After the tornado went by, I tried calling Morgan like 10 times and Scott four or five times and couldn’t get a hold of them,” Kirk said.

He, Sigler and Atterton had known each other since elementary school, all living within two miles of each other in Bryant.

“Me and Morgan were inseparable,” Kirk said. “If you saw her, you saw me.”

Sigler was a senior majoring in graphic design, and Atterton was a junior majoring in history.

Sigler’s visitation will be held at Moore’s Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala., from 11 to 12:30 Saturday. Funeral services will be held Sunday at Ebeneezer Baptist Church in Bryant at 1 p.m.

Atterton’s visitation will be held at Moore’s Funeral Home in Bryant, Ala., Sunday from 3-9 p.m., and his funeral will be held in the same location at 4 p.m. Monday.
