PRACTICE REPORT: Alabama returns outside for third day of Arkansas prep

CW / Hannah Saad

It was another cloudless and 70-degree afternoon on Wednesday which meant Alabama spent its second practice of the week outside. Here are our observations from practice:

Markail Benton continues to participate in some drills while not participating in others after suffering an injury to his hamstring. When the team moved into its dime package, Benton was the lone inside linebacker. The secondary stayed the same with Trevon Diggs and Patrick Surtain II on the outside, Xavier McKinney and Shyheim Carter at the Money and Star positions along with Jared Mayden and Jordan Battle at safety. Josh Jobe was once again shadowing Surtain while Daniel Wright was following Mayden.

The defensive linemen went in groups of three during the media viewing period as they worked on getting off the ball and covering in the flat. The first group consisted of D.J. Dale lining up in the nose guard position and was flanked by Raekwon Davis and Byron Young. The second group had Tevita Musika in the middle with Justin Eboigbe on his right and Phidarian Mathis to his left.

After taking it easy in practice yesterday, Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis were back at full tilt as they were the first duo for the outside linebackers during drills. Ben Davis and King Mwikuta were the second group and were followed by Kevin Harris II and Jarez Parks.
