PRACTICE REPORT: Kicker still limited in Wednesday’s practice
More stories from James Benedetto
Alabama was outside for the third time this week as the Crimson Tide prepares for its game on Saturday against Texas A&M. Here are our observations from practice:
Kicker/punter Will Reichard was seen at practice but did not punt during the media viewing period. Saban said that Reichard was going to return to practice this week but it is still unclear when he would resume his position as the punter. Skyler DeLong led the group of punters through drills and was followed by Jack Martin.Â
Jaylen Moody joined Markail Benton as the next inside linebacker to be limited for practice. Moody was having his left leg wrapped at the beginning of the media viewing period and was paired with Benton as the last group to go through individual drills and through the dime package walkthrough. The pecking order stayed the same as normal with Shane Lee and Christian Harris going first followed by Ale Kaho and Wes Baumhower.
The offensive line welcomed back a familiar face as Matt Womack was going through drills after missing practice yesterday. Chris Owens was also seen at practice but for the second straight day was off to the side during the media viewing period. Womack was slotted as the second-team right guard and was paired with Kendall Randolph who took snaps at both right guard and at tight end. The O-line also worked as a full group of five with the tight ends on Wednesday. Alex Leatherwood, Evan Neal, Landon Dickerson, Deonte Brown and Jedrick Wills Jr. worked with Miller Forristall, Major Tennison and Randolph through run-block formations.
The defensive line trios stayed the same as Raekwon Davis, D.J. Dale and Byron Young worked through some techniques during the media viewing period. Phidarian Mathis, Tevita Musika and Justin Eboigbe were once again grouped together.
