After 325 votes were cast tonight at the Calvary Baptist Church, Lee Busby has been elected to fill District 4’s Tuscaloosa City Council vacancy.

Busby, who won with 60% of the vote, is a retired United States Marine Corps colonel, former business owner and sculptor who was born and raised in Tuscaloosa. 

“I’m very happy for the people who live in the district,” Busby said at his home during a small post-election gathering. “I’m also mindful, like we talked about [in Monday’s interview], that the challenge of this district is balance, because you have a lot of competing interests and the councilman’s job is to balance things and do the right thing. So I’m looking forward to it.” 

Busby will take the District 4 seat for the first time at next Tuesday’s council meeting at 6 p.m., after all the provisional votes are counted.
