PRACTICE REPORT: Football continues prep for Texas A&M
More stories from James Benedetto
Alabama returned outside for its second practice of the week on a cool and sunny Tuesday afternoon. Here are our observations from practice:
Deonte Brown and Landon Dickerson were paired together as the offensive line worked on picking up blockers in the second level. Brown also worked with Jedrick Wills Jr. when the guards and tackles went through the drill as Evan Neal and Alex Leatherwood were the other first team guard and tackle duo. Chris Owens was spotted at practice but did not participate in any individual drills for the second time this week. With Owens out, Damian Dalcourt was spotted working with the second team at center.
The defensive linemen and the outside linebacker were seen working together on containing a quarterback run. Raekwon Davis, D.J. Dale, Byron Young and Anfernee Jennings were the “first nickel” group. After the four players went through the rep, Terrell Lewis hopped in for Jennings and went through the drill. Christopher Allen was paired with Phidarian Mathis, Tevita Musika and Justin Eboigbe in the “second nickel” group.
Markail Benton continues to work back from injury as he was again limited during the media viewing period. Shane Lee and Christian Harris were the first inside linebackers to go through individual drills followed by Jaylen Moody and Ale Kaho. Benton did participate however in the dime package walkthrough as he was with the second team shadowing Moody.
