PRACTICE REPORT: Two offensive starters limited during viewing period
More stories from James Ogletree
Alabama headed indoors on Wednesday for its second of three bye-week practices. Thursday afternoon’s practice will be the last practice of the week open to media. Here are our observations from Wednesday:
Junior receiver Henry Ruggs III was standing off to the side for the second straight day while the other receivers participated in drills. Juniors Jerry Jeudy and DeVonta Smith and sophomore Jaylen Waddle were the first trio to work through drills. Ruggs sustained a hip injury on Saturday against Ole Miss.
Junior right tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. was not in pads and not working with the rest of the O-linemen at the end of the media viewing period. The first-team line consisted of Alex Leatherwood, Evan Neal, Chris Owens, Deonte Brown and Matt Womack.
Redshirt sophomore tight end Major Tennison was also not participating with the rest of the group as they ran simple passing routes. Miller Forristall and Cameron Latu led off the TEs.
The quarterbacks worked on throwing to the front left corner of the end zone.
The defensive backs started off in two lines, dropping back a few steps and then stepping up to catch a football thrown by an assistant.
