PRACTICE REPORT: Preparation for Ole Miss begins on a hot Monday afternoon
More stories from James Benedetto
Alabama began its preparation for Ole Miss outside on a hot and sunny Monday afternoon. Here are our observations from Monday afternoon’s practice:
Will Reichard, Terrell Lewis and D.J. Dale were all present at practice but did not participate in individual drills with their position groups. Coach Nick Saban reported that Reichard strained his hip flexor after he kicked the kickoff tee during the Southern Miss game. At practice, Reichard just went through the motions of kicking an extra point stopping before he would kick the ball.
With Lewis standing off to the side after he suffered a knee injury against South Carolina, Christopher Allen led the rest of the outside linebackers through drills. Allen was followed by King Mwikuta, Jarez Parks, Kevin Harris II, Ben Davis as Anfernee Jennings rounded out the group.
Dale, who suffered a strain to his patellar tendon, was also standing off to the side during the media viewing period. Raekwon Davis, Phidarian Mathis and Justin Eboigbe were the first trio through the defensive line drills. They were followed by a group of four consisting of Christian Barmore, Stephon Wynn Jr., Tevita Musika and Byron Young.
Markail Benton was also spotted at practice but was limited due to a hamstring injury that kept him out of Saturday’s game. The normal rotation of inside linebackers stayed the same as Shane Lee and Christian Harris led the group followed by Ale Kaho and Jaylen Moody.
