Alabama strengthened its 2020 recruiting class and its future quarterback room by landing a commitment from Bryce Young, the No. 2-ranked dual-threat QB in the 2020 class by the 247Sports Composite, on Sunday. Alabama’s class remains ranked No. 2 behind Clemson.
Young, from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, had been committed to USC for more than a year. He was reportedly on Alabama’s campus on Saturday for the Southern Miss game.
“This was never about USC not meeting my expectations or anything, it was more about me feeling Alabama was too good of an opportunity to pass up,” Young said in a 247Sports interview.
According to 247Sports, Young plans to graduate high school early and enroll at Alabama in the spring. He will join a quarterback room that already includes junior Mac Jones and freshmen Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson.Â
