PRACTICE REPORT: Two starting OLBs limited at practice

Alabama held its first practice of the week outside as it begins to prepare for its first SEC road game of the season. Here are our observations from Monday afternoon’s practice:

Redshirt junior Terrell Lewis did not participate in individual drills during the media viewing period, standing off to the side behind OLB coach Sal Sunseri. Anfernee Jennings, on the other hand, did participate in the individual drills in sneakers and went last in the rotation as Christopher Allen and King Mwikuta were the first two OLBs to go.

After suffering from cramps and having to be carried off of the field on Saturday, Trevon Diggs was back at full go during the first period. The rotation of defensive backs remained the same as Patrick Surtain II led the way followed by Diggs, Josh Jobe and Jalyn Armour-Davis.

LaBryan Ray and Antonio Alfano were not seen at practice during the media viewing period. Although it is unclear why Ray was absent for practice, Alfano is still dealing with “some discipline things,” according to head coach Nick Saban. With Ray missing, Justin Eboigbe filled in next to D.J. Dale and Raekwon Davis. Phidarian Mathis, Stephon Wynn Jr. and Byron Young were the next trio to partake in the warm up drills.

Chris Owens was back and participated in drills at practice after he did not play in the game against New Mexico State. Emil Ekiyor Jr. was also accounted for but did not partake in any drills.
