Thin Mints are the best Girl Scout Cookie
February 21, 2019
It’s that time of year again – Girl Scouts are post up outside most of the local grocery stores, inviting you to spend more money than you should on sweets you may or may not actually need. They look up at you and into your soul, trying to convince you to buy from them, and you do it. We break down and we buy the Thin Mints because they are single-handedly the best Girl Scout cookie and arguably in the top five of the entire cookie genre.
Thin Mints are a classic cookie that everyone knows and loves. Sometimes the classics can be overlooked or called overrated. These original cookies do not deserve that – they deserve respect and adoration. Their minty, chocolatey goodness is unmatched by any other.
An Influenster poll shows that Thin Mints are the most popular of Girl Scout cookies in 25 out of the 50 states, further proving that Thin Mints are the best cookie. Samoas were a close second, with 18 states buying those the most, but they are always tied with another cookie as well. Each state that said Thin Mints were its most popular only listed Thin Mints. Other states usually listed a tie between multiple Girl Scout cookies. Thin Mints did not tie or match with any cookie because their greatness stands alone.
Girl Scout cookie profits go toward empowering the women of tomorrow, teaching them leadership skills and using their earnings to learn more and help the community. Every G.I.R.L. (go-getter, innovator, risk-taker and leader) gets to learn how to do things on her own and learn just what she is capable of, even though she’s young. That’s more than enough reason for all the feminists out there to go buy a few more boxes of Thin Mints – it’s for the girls.
Thin Mints are now also vegan, once again claiming the spot of best Girl Scout cookie, promising complete cruelty-free deliciousness in every box. While some other cookies have a vegan option (sometimes only sold in certain areas), Thin Mints are not making you choose, and they never will. Every time you buy Thin Mints, wherever you buy them, they will always be vegan.
If health and snacking don’t seem like they go together, think again. To enjoy four Thin Mints, it is only 160 calories and seven grams of fat, making it the healthiest option for a little pick-me-up snack. The runner-up cookies, Samoas, have the same calorie and fat levels at only two cookies. You would only get to enjoy two to avoid the guilt with these other cookies. Why eat two Samoas when you can eat four Thin Mints for the same caloric cost?
Thin Mints may be the most commonly known Girl Scout cookie, but it is simply because they are the best; The G.O.A.T of Girl Scout cookies if you will. Their name is the same wherever you go, never causing confusion like other cookies that go by two different names. In some places Samoas are called Caramel deLites and Tagalongs are called Peanut Butter Patties. But one thing is for sure: Thin Mints are always Thin Mints and they are always the best choice.
