The Paul W. Bryant Museum opened up to the general public 31 years ago on Oct. 8, 1988. The museum, located on campus, will be closed for the month of February for renovations.

The museum, scheduled to open again on March 1, will be receiving technology upgrades, which includes video touchscreen walls. Other minor renovations include carpet and air conditioning replacement.

This museum typically caters to University of Alabama football fans and various student organizations.

Museum Director Ken Gaddy said he believes the museum is a great way for the public to learn more about the history of Alabama football and its legendary coach, Paul “Bear” Bryant.

“We have state-of-the-art displays and memorabilia from the history of Alabama football and the career of Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, and hopefully people can come back to a new and improved museum,” Gaddy said.

Some students like Sarah Conley, a junior majoring in news media, are big Alabama fans and believe this museum is worth seeing.

“This museum is definitely worth the visit, and I would recommend this museum to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of Alabama football,” Conley said.

Conley said she can’t wait to see the museum after the renovations are complete.

The museum will be open again in time for the football team’s annual spring game, A-Day, taking place on April 13.

Normally the museum is open to the general public daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members and children under the age of 6 get in for free, while the admission price for adults is $2, and the admission price for senior citizens, 60 years and up, is $1. The admission price for children ages 6 to 17 is $1, and UA students with ACT cards get in free.
