Tuscaloosa Civil Rights Task Force emphasizes historical honesty

The Tuscaloosa Civil Rights Task Force is working to highlight historical honesty as it relates to the struggle for Civil Rights in the Tuscaloosa community. A lunch-and-learn will take place Jan. 30 to further enhance individuals’ knowledge about phase one of the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History Trail.
“I think it is really cool that the campus is working hard to educate students about black history,” said Keoshane Allen, a senior majoring in management and information systems. “We have come a really long way.”

Where: The Forum, Ferguson Student Center
“This event is extremely important because Dr. Martin Luther King was a vocal activist that fought for the rights of everyone, and I think this forum is a wonderful way to continue his legacy,” said TJ Ross, a junior majoring in news media.
The theme for the month is “The Fierce Urgency of Now: A Day On–Not a Day Off,” and this event is part of a series of events within the theme that honor Martin Luther King, Jr.
The cost of this event is free, but registration is required.
