Defensive coordinator Lupoi leaving Alabama for Browns job
January 16, 2019
Add another name to the list of assistant coaches that have left Alabama in recent weeks.
Former Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi will depart from Tuscaloosa to become the defensive line coach for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, according to various reports.
After initially joining Nick Saban’s staff in 2014, Lupoi was promoted to defensive coordinator last season after Jeremy Pruitt left to assume the head coaching position at Tennessee. Lupoi’s loss may be felt most on the recruiting trail, as he was renowned for his ability to reel in prospects.
Alabama has already seen its offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Josh Gattis, quarterbacks coach Dan Enos and offensive line coach Brent Key leave for other positions.
