Only one Alabama player managed to reach double digits in Alabama’s lackluster 68-52 loss to Northeastern in the first round of the Charleston Classic on Thursday. The Crimson Tide had a much better offensive showing against Ball State on Friday afternoon, with four Alabama players scoring in the double digits in a 79-61 win.

“I am really proud of our team and I thought we played with maximum energy on both ends of the floor,” Alabama head coach Avery Johnson said in a press release. “Ball State is a veteran team and they know what they are doing. Much better effort of defending the three-point line – especially in the second half. We rebounded the ball and had a balanced scoring attack. We are not going to be very good when one guy gets double figures. I think it really energized our team and I think (Tevin) Mack and Dazon both gave us a huge lift today.”

Tevin Mack, who sat out last year after transferring from Texas, led the way with a 20 point effort in his home state of South Carolina. He drilled five of his nine shots from beyond the arc.

Donta Hall recorded his second double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 boards. Herbert Jones added 13 points and Dazon Ingram chipped in 11 off the bench to go along with five assists.

Alabama made 50.8 percent of its shots from the field and showed superb ball movement, amassing 22 assists.

After Ball State opened the game with a basket, Alabama went on a 13-0 run and rode that momentum for the rest of the game.

Alabama (3-1) will play its final game of the Charleston Classic on Sunday against either Appalachian State, who it beat 81-73 already this season, or Wichita State at 12:30 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
