Alabama in the NFL: Week four

Week four of the NFL season is complete, and many former Alabama players showcased their skills. Among them were Atlanta Falcons wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones, and for the second week in a row they showed elite playmaking in a record-setting performance.

Ridley caught four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Ridley now has six touchdowns, which is the highest for a rookie in a team’s first four games in NFL history. He is also the current NFL leader in receiving touchdowns. Jones caught nine passes for 173 yards in his 99th NFL regular-season game. The Falcons lost 37-36 to the Cincinnati Bengals.

There were more than 36 Alabama players to see the field throughout the fourth week of the 2018 NFL season.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker C.J. Mosley had a team-high eight tackles, and broke up a pass. His teammate cornerback Marlon Humphrey made four tackles while covering elite receiver Antonio Brown. The Ravens won 26-14.

Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick made his first career interception against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Dolphins lost 38-7.

Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson made three tackles and intercepted a pass against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The interception made it back-to-back weeks with a takeaway. The Bears won 48-10.

Green Bay Packers Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix made four tackles and intercepted a pass against the Buffalo Bills. The interception marks the third game in a row recording a takeaway for Clinton-Dix. The Packers won 22-0.

Detroit Lions defensive teammates Da’Shawn Hand and A’Shawn Robinson both put their elite skill set on display against the Dallas Cowboys. Robinson set a career-high with nine tackles, and Hand had three tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. The Cowboys won with a game-winning field goal 26-24.

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper caught eight passes for 128 yards and one touchdown. The game was Cooper’s 13th 100-yard receiving game in his career after a slow start to the season. The Raiders won 45-42 over the Cleveland Browns in overtime.

Another notable performance was New England Patriots cornerback Cyrus Jones. Jones returned five punts for 45 yards, including a 24-yarder, and made a single tackle against the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots won 38-7.
