Rowing competes in first fall meet

AlabamaRowing began its season at the Head of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The competition commenced on Saturday with the Crimson Tide having four-top 10 finishers across two races. Two of those finishes narrowly missed out on bronze-medals by a combined five seconds.
After a successful Saturday, Alabama continued with a superb performance on Sunday. In the final race of the weekend, the Crimson Tide grabbed its first gold medal of the season in the Women’s Open 2-. Sophomore Cori Guay and junior Rebekah Stewart finished 25 seconds ahead of the second-placed pair with a time of 16:43.60.
“It was yet another solid race where we were able to gain some valuable experience on the race course,” coach Glenn Putyrae said in a press release. “Cori and Rebekah had a great race.”
All eight of the pairs that participated on Sunday finished in the top-25 with two finishing in the top-five.
“Overall, we are really proud of the way the athletes competed and handled themselves this weekend,” Putyrae said. “They represented themselves and their teammates very well.”
The Crimson Tide will close its fall season at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 3rd and 4th.
