It’s time to put on your poker face.
At the first ever Druid City Poker Run on Saturday, April, 14, poker players are invited to spend an evening in downtown Tuscaloosa at Icon to show off their skills or learn some new ones.
Anyone 21 and older can register online for $10, which includes one “Game Card,” or hand, of poker. Players can purchase additional “Game Cards” for $10 each and pick them up at Icon when the Poker Run starts. In-person registration the day of the event will be $15.
The Druid City Poker Run is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Icon. From there, players will move to four other checkpoints that will include the Alcove International Tavern, The Grey Lady, Roxy’s and the Black Warrior Brewing Company.
The party does not stop once the players hit all five checkpoints. At 10 p.m., players can return to Icon for an after-party. Players will also have the chance to submit their best poker hand to compete for a door prize.
While the Druid City Poker Run looks like it’s only for fun, it is actually helping benefit Tuscaloosa’s LGBTQ+ community. All the proceeds from the event will be donated to Druid City Pride.
Druid City Pride is a nonprofit organization that serves and advocates for the LGBTQ+ members of the West Alabama community and their allies. They host several events and fundraisers throughout the year to provide resources to these communities.
