Ugly God is performing at Druid City Music Hall tonight, Friday, Feb. 23. Royce Davidson, otherwise known as Ugly God, is best known for his 2016 hit single “Water,” which has racked up close to 100 million streams on Spotify.
Davidson grew up listening to artists like the Ying Yang Twins and R. Kelley. The rapper and record producer was born in Indiana, but grew up in Houston, Texas. He went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi to pursue a career as a computer engineer. While there, he also developed an in music.
Ugly God began his career as an internet celebrity on social media accounts when he posted “Water” on his SoundCloud account. “Water” found its way to the Billboard Hot 100. The song was so popular among millennials it earned a platinum plaque in 2017. Since then, his fan base has continued to grow.
Along with his musical talent, Ugly God is also well-known for his interest in lizards and Pokemon.
The event is open to people of all ages and will begin at 8:30 p.m., with the doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices will start at $20, but can go up to $30 depending on the seat location.
